About Me!
My teaching career began in 2013 at Stephen Gaynor School in New York City, after earning my Master of Science in Childhood Special Education with a concentration in Learning Disabilities from Hunter College. In 2016, I relocated to Washington, DC, where I continued my work in private schools as both a learning specialist and homeroom teacher.
During this time, I have taught and supported students in grades 3 through 8 at Lowell School, The Lab School of Washington, and St. Patrick’s Episcopal Day School. In addition to tutoring, I currently serve as Reading Department Chair at The Siena School in Silver Spring, where I coach and support teachers while continuing to draw on my experience working with a wide range of learners.
Pillars on which I base my work with students:
Utilizing evidence-based best teaching practices
Employing a diagnostic-prescriptive approach to tailor goals and outcomes
Designing a structured and systematic learning plan
Consistently communicating with families
Partnering with parents, teachers, and other outside support
Professional development includes:
ASDEC Multisensory Math I & II
90+ Hours of Orton-Gillingham Training
The Hochman Method: Advanced Thinking Through Writing (now known as The Writing Revolution)
